Dark Blood by Christine Feehan ~ ARC Review & Giveaway!

The fates of a warrior reborn and a seductive Dragonseeker are irrevocably entwined in the new Carpathian novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan,”the queen of paranormal romance” (J. R. Ward).

At long last you are truly back with us…

Zev Hunter was an elite warrior, a dark-blood dealer of death to rogue Lycans who preyed on mankind. He was a loner, never given to personal attachments, and damned fierce at his job. But Zev begins to question his past and his purpose when he awakens in the darkness of the sacred cave of warriors — and is soothed back to consciousness by the sensuously familiar voice of one woman, the woman who has haunted his fantasies for centuries. She was Branislava, member of the Dragonseeker clan…

Mother Earth called the ancients to witness your rebirth…

For this half-mage, half-Carpathian temptress, the ritual of awakening Zev to the council of warriors was the only way to save him. Locked away for his own protection, the time has now come for his rebirth, for his blood to stir with that of the ancient warriors before him. He has been assured by Branislava that their fates are entwined, that their spirits are woven together for eternity and that his new purpose in life is beyond imagining.

Now, with a blood-sworn vow of honor, mercy and endurance, and under the influence of a siren as bewitching as Branislava, Zev begins to wonder what his purpose is, what it means for the future of the Carpathians and what it is about his rebirth that he has to fear…

Dark Blood is a delightful addition to the spellbinding and evocative Dark Series. No one writes paranormal romance like Christine Feehan. She is truly an amazing author and just keeps coming up with terrific story lines. I just could not put this book down. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will not want it to end. I was entranced from start to finish. I have always found it so easy to get lost in her books because she pays such close attention to detail it feels like I am right there beside her characters. I would recommend this series all day long!

The alliance between the Carpathians and the Lycans is fragile. If they can not come to an agreement war is emanate. As old enemies surfaces, they are all in for the fight of their lives against an enemy that is beyond evil.

Zev has sworn an oath to protect his people the Lycans. Always alone and always fighting for his kind. Until he lays eyes on Branislava of the Dragonseekers. For the first time he longs for more. Branislava and her sister Tatijana spent most of their lives tortured and trapped in ice in the form of dragons in their father the High Mage Xavier’s ice cave. After being rescued years earlier she never expected to find her lifemate. She longed to be free for centuries but all that changes when she meets Zev Hunter. He awakens dreams and desires in her she thought she would never have. Together they both find a fiery passion and love that will last a life time if only they can survive the coming storm headed their way.
Zev is an elite hunter and has always respected his leaders, followed their orders and never doubted the judgements met out until now. He is torn between loyalty to his kind but knowing that they are wrong and are resistance to change. Zev was on the brink of death when Bronnie tied her soul to his and he is now a Carpathian-Lycan mix blood. He is a Guardian not the evil and deadly Sange rau as the Lycans want to believe. As things from the past collide with the future they all must come together for the battle of a lifetime. Zev finds out that there is more to his past than he could ever begin to imagine. Bronnie and Tatijana will face their darkest fears and the greatest evil there will ever be.

Excerpt from Highland Promise by Mary McCall:

Falsely accused of the Sin of Eve at age twelve, Lady Faith of Hawkhurst hides her beauty beneath a hideous disguise and seeks help from a Highlander passing through her brother’s land. Laird Brendan Sutherland realizes she’s disguised but wants a good look at her, realizing Faith is the woman he promised his best friend’s wife he would marry if he could find her. After a court scandal, King Henry orders them wed, and Faith fears Brendan will never trust her when he learns of her deception; but they have bigger problems with a killer following them home to the Highlands.

This was a first for me by this author and I have to say it was a great choice! Apparently this is part of a series but it can be read alone and I didn’t feel like I was missing out by starting off with this one. The story is set around a man with a heart made of stone who has made a promise to his best friends wife and is determined to fulfill that promise. Needless does he know that she is not so easily deterred from her path of going to a convent. Can these two actually find a true median and find out that there is such thing as love comes quickly? Brendan is definetly all manly and highlander, including honor bound to the core! While Faith may have some flaws due to an earlier experience. She does have trust issues, but she is still very strong minded. The author not only brings a great read but also adds humor and mystery to be solved in this historical Highlander romance! I enjoyed the authors details of not just her characters but also the plot. Oh and lets not forget the great disagreements between our lovely Hero and Heroine, these two had me laughing out at times. If you enjoy a good read I would definitely tell you to grab this one it has a lot of entertainment to fulfill your day or evening!!!

She resides in Memphis, Tennessee with her Maltese, Regina Catriona, who runs the apartment.

Q. What inspired you to write this book?

Highland Promise was born out of the two books that came before it; but, truthfully, it was Alera in Highland Captive that up and decided to have “sisters.” I was perfectly contented to write about gifted MacKay women through several generations when Alera introduced me to Faith, Christina and Medea. And wouldn’t you just know that Duncan had to have brothers so I quickly met Brendan, Michael and Luthias. Alera and Duncan chose to make the introductions while I was coming out of anesthesia and I was too weak to deny them their books.

Q. Who is your favorite character and why?

Since I love all my characters this is a hard question for me. In Highland Promise I have to say I love Faith and the way she seems to blunder her way through things, believes what she wants no matter what anyone says and grows when she gets accepted into clan Sutherland. I also have to admit I enjoyed bringing back Hope & Leonce and Toril & Julian from Highland Promise and getting a glimpse of them as they became grandparents for the first time. Once thing nice about a series is that you get to revisit fun old friends…ahem…I mean characters. Y’all do realize that all my characters live with me while I’m writing their stories, don’t you? Now if I can just train Michael to walk the dog…

Q. Are you currently working on a new book?

I’m putting the final edits on The Strangcliffe Secret, an English Medieval Romance during the time of William the Conqueror, and then yes, Virginia, there is another book coming in the Sister’s by Choice series. The book is written in long hand after six long years of researching multiple cultures, myths and legends. Now it’s on to the typing. If all goes well, I should be able to forward it to my publisher by the end of the year.

Q. Can you tell us the name of the book and a little bit about it?

The third Sister’s by Choice book is Highland Legacy: King Author Strikes Back and an extremely ambitious book for me. For those who met Michael MacArthur in Highland Promise, this is the story of what happens when his bride Christina gets tired of waiting for him to come get her. The pair end up being warriors for God and have to fulfill a mission forsaken by King Arthur and Guinevere.  It’s been a fun adventurous romance to write.

Q. Can you share something with everyone that inspires you?

Old dusty manuscripts, music (including ballads, opera, sacred, Gregorian and Ambrosian chant, easy listening), books, prayer. Most of the things that really inspire me are things I enjoy while alone.

Q. As a child what did you want to do when you grew up?

This question cracks me up. First I wanted to be the Blessed Mother for the second coming. Then my mother took pains to explain the role was already filled and Mother Mary didn’t need me to take her place. Then I was going to be a nun and teacher. But not just any kind of teacher. I was going to teach penmanship. I was going to walk the aisles between desks wearing my full habit (Vatican II hadn’t been implemented and I was still wondering if nuns had legs or floated) and slapping a ruler against my thing. I used to play practice this too. When I passed Tommy’s desk, his paper would be a mess but instead of slapping Tommy’s knuckles with the ruler, I’d break it and say, “That’s messy but nobody can write with sore fingers. Practice more, Tommy.” I was also the director of the nun’s choir. I practiced that a lot too…at least until Dad came home and said it was quiet time.

Q. If you could go on a date with one of the male/female characters from a book who would it be (Character Name, Book Title and Author’s Name) and what would you do on that date?

Hands down, I want a date with Rourk Deverill Bouchamp from Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss (RIP). I would love to go with him to explore caves all through the Appalachian Mountains. I always thought Shanna would have made a great and fun movie.

Q. Do you have a favorite playlist that you listen to when you write?

Not really. For the most part I prefer quiet. When I want sounds in the background for various reasons I play The Phantom soundtrack, Celtic music, chant, arias and ballads. I generally stay away from love songs and what I call good music because I start singing along and stop writing.

Q. When you aren’t writing what do you do to relax and have fun?

I enjoy playing with Regina (my Maltese) and grooming her. If we walk, it’s a short one. Otherwise we watch a good movie. Regina’s favorites are First Dog, Beethoven and Frankenweenie. Mine change all the time. Right now I’m stuck on Frozen, Quo Vadis and Olympus Has Fallen.

Release Blitz ~ Sleepless Nights by Amanda Heath

I’ve been living two lives for the past seven years.
One with Victor and the other with Damien.
Victor I’ve known all my life. When his parents died he even came to live with my family and I. I was so in love with him. It wasn’t until years into our relationship I started to see the faults in him. Then he went off to Iraq.
Damien was the bad boy biker at our high school. Even while I was with Victor, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. Then I got on the back of his bike and I thought I finally found my home. Then Victor came back wounded.
That was all five years ago and now those two lives and my two loves are starting to converge. I don’t know who I am anymore and I don’t know who I want to be with. Though these two guys won’t let me be single for long.
But one of them has gotten me into a lot of trouble with the mob. And now it’s up to the other one to save me. And before you roll your eyes, that statement isn’t what you think. You’ll be surprised who the bad guy really is.
I promise to find my happily ever after, even if it’s at the Wrath MC clubhouse in the arms of an alpha biker or in the high society world where I was born and in the arms of my ex-army man.

“I hate you!” I scream, my voice cracking and breaking apart in the otherwise quiet room.
“I know, baby,” he whispers, tears leaking out the sides of his eyes. It doesn’t stop me though. This time I attack him with my mouth. My lips smash into his and it’s a hurricane of hatred and bitterness. We do this to each other. We make each other this horrible thing and it’s been going on for so long. I can’t even face myself in the mirror each day because who I’ll see is not someone I would ever want to be.
Victor’s tongue pushes into my mouth and I bite it. He snarls and drops to his knees, taking me with him. We end up on the floor, his hand pulling my hair back, forcing my mouth to kiss him deeper.
His phones rings, “Attack” by Thirty Seconds to Mars plays, but he ignores it. For once in his life, Victor ignores a call from Talon. It urges me on as his hand slips into my pants, down into my underwear and right for my clit. I grind my hips against his hand, my mouth still attacking his.
I move my hands to rip his shirt over his head; angry when his lips leave mine for the second it takes. Then he’s back taking over my mind, my body and my fucking soul. This is where Victor and I get along the most. We are good at this together, I don’t know why. I want to beat him to hell must days but the second he touches me, I’m on him like a raging bull.
His hand leaves my sex and helps his other hand get my pants off. They get flung behind him, and my underwear goes next. His fingers come back, two entering me at once. He pumps them inside of me, fast and hard, just the way I like it. He stops kissing me to look down at me as he fucks me with his fingers. But I won’t surrender completely to him. He will no longer win every time. We will be equals in everything we do and if we aren’t, then there won’t be an us. Because I refuse to be put back into that place I was in earlier.
I refuse to hate myself.

I live in southern Arkansas with my husband and young daughter. There is also an insane Boston Terrier running around. I’ve always been a lone wolf and find my friends in books. I started writing at a young age and I haven’t stopped since. Most days you can find me either glued to my laptop or my kindle. My first novel, This Beautiful Thing was an Amazon best seller for 11 weeks and a year later I’m still tickled to see people enjoy it. I may not be a huge seller but I have the best fans ever and I thank God everyday for every single one of them.

Hoffmann was born in Germany to her German native mother and her American soldier father. There, in her pre-teens, is when she began writing and developed her love for literature.

Today, Hoffmann resides in Missouri with her husband and three children, where she published her first book Blood Slaves in January 2014 and is currently working on Book Two to the Daughters of Darkness Series. When Hoffmann isn’t busy putting words on the page she enjoys reading, drawing, playing loving pranks on her husband, and spending time with her family
