Synopsis:
Darius MacDuff was at his zenith in the midst of a raging battle. He never expected his home would one day become his most treacherous battlefield…nor would his most lethal opponent come in the form of a shapely siren. Delicious deception, her weapon of choice.
Rival Scottish Clans. An ancient relic. One has possession. The other will stop at nothing to obtain it…
The honorable Clan MacDuff has protected the coveted relic for centuries. When rival Clan MacAlpin discovers the eldest brother of the MacDuff is to take a wife, their scheming materializes in the form of deceit as they kidnap Alick MacDuff’s betrothed and send their sister in her place.
Tegan MacAlpin has no choice but to pretend to want to be bride to her blood enemy. But once inside Castle MacDuff she fears her ability to procure the relic before Darius, Alick’s dangerously handsome and highly suspicious younger brother, discovers her treachery. When all is said and done, will she remain loyal to her clan in hopes of claiming her long-sought freedom, or bend to the bidding of a forbidden nemesis? In the end, it all comes down to a question of honor…

Excerpt from Highland Honor by Angela Ashton:

Something unmistakably lethal shadowed his eyes. Something only a fool would ignore. His austere gaze could turn rock to ash. What the hell was he about?
Alick’s laugh lacked any signs of humor. His eyes never left Darius as he addressed her, “Forgive my brother, m’lady. Dari has been far too long painting the bonny moors of Scotland with enemy blood and forgets his manners in the presence of a lady.”
There was no dismissing the subtle warning underlying his tone, though the smirk that flashed across Darius’ face told her he planned to do just that.
Tegan dare not look directly at Alick for fear he’d read the horrid fascination in her eyes. Surely he couldn’t detest it any more than she. As if she could stop gaping starry-eyed at his wayward brother. If such extraordinary power were within her grasp, it lay dormant beneath a heavy cloak of fear-laced awe.
She did, however, make the mistake of looking at the human magnet and flinched at the violent collision. The knowing leer on his face spoke enough volume to stuff a library from floor to rafters with cynical tomes. He’d seen the lust in her eyes as surely as she’d felt the seed take root and fester in her treacherous bosom.
He was T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
Review by Sue Ellen
The author did a great job with adding some extra suspense into her stories by involving more than just a rival clan or love quarrel. In this Historical Romance you have a receive a storyline of deception, mystery, rivalry, and the major thing romance. Darius has one thing that other clans will stop at nothing to get, his ancestors have been able to keep ahold of it. But now there may be one weakness that might be his downfall. I enjoyed how the author wrote this character, you can tell the amount of love for his clan but also that there is more behind the wall he has built up if only the right women will come along. Tegan MacAlphin is from the enemy clan who is trying to find this relic and seems to be the pawn of this chess game. Unfortunately for her back in those days a women had to do what she was told. So when she is sent to act as someone else that is exactly what she does. Will she lose her heart to Darius (who by the way is not the one she is there to marry) or will he discover exactly who she is and a far worse faith await her? Can you see just by the description and this how much of an amazing storyline is packed into this storyline! The first thing that always grabs my attention is a cover and I love how this newer cover is portraying what your about to read, to me it explains that there is a clan head who will stop at nothing to protect his castle (which after you read this novel you will see is very true). I recommend this novel if you love reading highland romances!

Amazing Interview with Angela Ashton!!!!

Q: What inspired you to write this book?

My love for Scottish Historicals inspired me to write Highland Honor.   I had so much fun writing my first Scottish Historical I couldn’t wait to dive back in! Q: Who is your favorite character and why?

Tegan. She’s a brave young woman, ahead of her time in many ways. She’s determined, loyal, and doesn’t let fear hold her back from doing what must be done. Q: Are you currently working on a new book at this time?

Several!! It has been a while since I have submitted a story; however, I am still working on several stories, yes—a sequel to this and a few others set in the Highlands—I just need more time in my days!! Q: Can you tell us the name of the book and a little bit about it?

Of course, here’s the blurb:

But once inside Castle MacDuff she fears her ability to procure the relic before Darius, Alick’s dangerously handsome and highly suspicious younger brother; discovers her treachery. When all is said and done, will she remain loyal to her clan in hopes of claiming her long-sought freedom, or bend to the bidding of a forbidden nemesis? In the end, it all comes down to a question of honor… Q: Can you share something with everyone that inspires you?

Classical music. I love most anything with a violin. A fountain, various music, reading, a picture…inspiration can be found in the most unusual places. Q: As a child what did you want to do when you grew up?  A writer, a nurse, a doctor, and a dancer. Q: If you could go on a date with one of the male/female characters from a book who would it be (Character name, Book Title & Author’s Name) and what would you do on that date?

Whoa—tough choice, there are so many! Hmmm, dang, do I choose one of my books, or one of my fav authors?!? Hmmm…ok. Jamie Frasier from Diana Gabaldon’s ‘Outlander’ series. I love the books and the characters but she has written Jamie in such a way he virtually leaps from the pages straight into you heart. What would we do…anything he wanted!!! lol Q: Do you have a favorite playlist that you listen to when you write?

Not really. I don’t always listen to music, but if I do it’s usually classical; or something to set me in the mood for whatever I’m writing. I also burn scented candles. I burned heather scented candles when I wrote Amulet of Fate and now every time I smell heather, it takes me back. Great memories! Q: When you aren’t writing what do you do to relax and have fun?  Read, work around the house, just remodeled my yards and painted trim on the house. I love dancing and hanging out with my friends and family. Dating is fun and I am harboring various things I’m observing for future works!
