PG EXCERPT (TWO EXCERPTS, PICK ONE)

Hope appeared in the middle of what looked to be a homeless

shelter. It wasn’t what she’d pictured back at…

She shook her head and scratched it. Where’d she come from?

Where was it that she wanted to go? Her mind acted like a blank chalkboard

being looked at through a fisheye lens. Writing appeared hazy and

indecipherable on the outer edges of the sphere, but the blackness in the

middle was clean.

Her body tensed, reacted as if she should run. With wide eyes,

she surveyed the area. People on chairs and benches were scattered through the

large room. Broken windows and shattered glass doors at the entrance looked out

upon a gray day. The other way revealed an opening to a courtyard type parking

lot with long carports on the perimeter.

A young, Goth-looking cashier with black hair, white makeup and

piercings in her lips, eyebrows and ears, gaped at her as if she had grown a

pair of horns and sprouted a third eye in the middle of her forehead.

Hope wavered, trying to reconcile what was happening. She knew

her name, knew that she had a family and wanted to be a dancer? But anything

else? “Where am I? How’d…how’d I get here?” Her voice faltered over the

questions. She stared at the teen.

“You in the ol’ bus term.” The goth snapped the gum in her

mouth. “How ya got ‘ere is beyon’ me. Ya jist kinda appeared outta nothing.”

Another teen in his goth phase came up to them. “Yeah. Poof.

There you be. Totes mcgotes cray-cray.”

“But I don’t want to be here.” Tears of frustration pooled in

Hope’s eyes. She swiped at them. She was tired. She was hungry. She was dirty

and hot. In the time she’d been in the bus station, dry, oven-like air had

sapped all the moisture from her skin. She believed she was a walking piece of

water-depleted, brittle clay, which would crumble into dust and blow away with

the slightest touch.

“Then flash on outta ‘ere like ya did to git ‘ere.” The goth’s

voice was monotone with no vestige of sympathy.

Hope closed her eyes, did her best to picture a place to go to,

but none came to mind. Try as she might to ‘flash on out,’ she continued to

stand amongst a bunch of uncaring strangers.

The goth shook her head and ran her black-nailed fingers through

her hair. “Guess ya usin’ the door like the rest o’ us.” She chomped on her gum

a few times, then tilted her head toward the exit.

ADULT EXCERPT

“I

thought you might be interested in a hobby.” Buzz pointed at the yarn, which

she put on the floor next to her. “The other items are to help you become the

proper, submissive wife.”

“Speaking

of being the proper wife. When are you going to give me some satisfaction as a

husband should? Or do you have a problem in that department and can only get

off on torturing helpless victims? Ones you have to capture and make submit to you?” The words

tumbled out of her mouth without thought.

Buzz

narrowed his eyes. His nostrils flared. “It’s not time yet for me to take your

innocence,” his strained voice grit out. “And, for your lack in restraint in

speaking to me, you will spend all night on the porch.”

“Yes,

my love.” The dismal words seemed to fall on deaf ears. Doing as he’d

instructed, she crawled behind him out to the back of the house.

He

cranked open the windows. She undressed from the white shirt and gray skirt

uniform, stepped forward and presented her hands in the air to be secured. Once

she was in place, he took the dildo with the long horsehair attached to it and

whipped her with the strands. Her ass cheeks burned and clenched each time they

were marked with the lashes.

“Ah,

what a lovely shade of deep pink my dear, like a nice piece of medium rare

steak.” He slapped the area with his hand, then prepped the dildo and her anus

with lube. Buzz shoved the toy up her ass.

The

hairs danced in the breeze coming through the open windows and tickled her

thighs.

Pins

were placed on her nipples. She did her best to not react to the shooting pains

zinging through her breasts. A blindfold covered her eyes.

Metal

clanking and scraping sounded nearby. He didn’t leave the area as he normally

would? Not liking the change in routine, the fact he stood somewhere close to

her sent her nerves and heart racing.

Seconds

later, a cold structure pressed against her abdomen. She recognized the cool

metal to be the step ladder which usually sat in the corner. The apparatus

pushed against her. When she heard the whiz of his zipper, she opened her mouth

and granted him access. There was no use trying to fight him considering the

position she was in.

EXCERPT

“Thank you for your help,” he said. His voice was rusty, but clear enough.
She gasped in mock shock. “He speaks! Five words and it wasn’t rude!”
Against his will, his lips twitched. She always could make him smile when he least wanted to.
She leaned forward, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. “Let’s try something else. I know it’s dangerous—I mean, your head might explode or something—but I say we risk it. Give me a compliment.”

“Fishing?” he drawled.

She tsked. “That wasn’t a compliment. You’re supposed to say something nice. About me.”

He didn’t answer. Mostly because he was thinking of all the things he wanted to say. That her skin looked soft and her eyes were a changeable hazel that always kept him guessing. That her tits were round and full, just begging to be nipped. That she was small compared to his 6’3″ frame, but she had legs long enough to wrap around his waist as he buried himself inside her. And that red hair, a bright red flash of color on her perfect body, was a scream of danger he lusted after.

While those thoughts spun through his mind, her expression soured. With a sigh, she grabbed his empty beer bottle and held it before his eyes. “Say something nice to me and I’ll get you another beer.”

She shook the bottle a little to grab his attention. It didn’t work. He was too busy watching how the breeze pressed her blouse flat against her chest. Her bra had lace, which meant texture, and he wondered what sound she’d make if he tugged it back and forth against her nipples.

“John–-”
“That’s a nice b-blouse.” Damn it, he’d almost said bra.
Her mouth flattened with a sigh. “I thought you’d like it.”
Alea leaned forward as she pushed to her feet. A curl of brown hair tumbled forward, pushing past the tiny gold hoop in her ear to dangle right before him. Without thinking, he grabbed the lock, winding it around his fingers. It wasn’t even long enough to pull into his fist. But it was close enough to hold her still. Her eyes widened in surprise and her mouth—those plump, pink lips—formed a perfect O.

God, he’d been gone so long. And she was so much of a woman now.
“John?”
He wanted to say something, but he hadn’t the words. Just a thick want. He took a breath, trying to clear his head, but all he tasted on the air was her. A citrus scent, so appropriate to Florida and so missed when he was in Afghanistan. But there was another scent on top. The taste of woman, hot and spicy despite her demure yellow shirt.

He should let her go, but his fingers just wouldn’t cooperate. He tightened his hold. And when her hair started to slip through his grip, he pushed forward in his chair. He deserved one taste. He sacrificed so his country would be safe. One kiss was nothing when stacked up against that.

But if he was going to take her mouth—and he damn sure was—then he was going to take something else too…

EXCERPT

It seemed more and more lately that no matter how hard she tried, he looked right through her. It was infuriating and heart breaking. She’d had enough heartbreak during the past year to last her a lifetime. Her mother had been sick battling cancer all last year. Unfortunately she’d lost the battle. She’d made sure to pass on information to Mary while on her deathbed though.

Something Mary had never seen coming. She was adopted. Her world felt as if she had lost all control.

The adoption information that her mother had left with her will quickly found its way into the trash. Why would she want to find someone who didn’t want her? She had enough instances of that in her own home. She did wonder, after a year, if she had reacted too rashly. You never know when you’ll need family, and if she met her biological mother maybe she could figure out who she was, inside and out.

Mary plopped herself on the bed and let out a huge rush of air. There was no way Joe hadn’t noticed her outfit. She had bought it specifically for their ten-year anniversary night.

She remembered how she had anxiously awaited this evening and decided that she would make it perfect no matter how she was feeling. Every year on this day, they left the house at four twenty five and drove to the lake where he had romantically declared his undying love and proposed to her. He always hired a horse drawn carriage. The prancing steed would take them from the lake to a lovely candlelit dinner for two. After having one too many glasses of wine and a wonderful meal, they would enjoy a leisurely stroll to the theater. Wicked was currently playing on Broadway, and she couldn’t wait to hear the music that made her soul dance and her heart soar. Re-reading the book several times had her excited, and she knew the night would be perfect.

Then reality reared its ugly head.

Carefully she unlaced her corset and tossed the silky white thong in the corner; it still held the dampness from her unquenched desire.

“I can’t believe I wasted my time and effort on this. Sometimes my husband is such a jerk,” when she took a look around it dawned on her that she was talking to herself. Another deep breath and swish of hair and she mused, “I guess its okay to talk to myself as long as I don’t answer back, huh CC?”

She slipped her silk robe on quickly and snatched the cat from his slumberous repose. He squirmed to free himself but Mary kissed his little nose first. “Don’t be like your daddy, at least notice I’m here.” She placed the cat gently on the bed and started her morning ritual. Getting ready for work was the last thing she was interested in.

AUTHOR BIO

Writing books has been a long time in coming for me. When I was younger, my father and I lived in a town where a kid could run the streets all ‘willy nilly’. When I was old enough to babysit myself I was off and running. To where you may ask, the library. At the time the library was in an old shop on a street in town. The children’s books were in the back room and that was where I spent my days. I was never without an adventure in my hands, and I never failed to finish the summer reading program with books to spare.

My love for reading didn’t stop there. My mother is an avid reader and she acquired most of her books from a exchange shop. You would purchase your books there, and return them for partial credit and get more. One night I was left with a bag of to be returned books. It was a Piers Anthony book, Night Mare to be exact. I devoured that book and any other that he has written. I currently am the proud owner of at least 70 of his books. I’m working toward getting them all, I wish he’d quit writing so quickly.

The writing bug caught me when my 12th grade English teacher wanted to use MY essay to show the class. He put it on projector film and everything. I was so excited. The assignment was to pick a month and write about it. Of course, being the child that I was I had to be difficult about it. The rest of the class chose June, July, April and went on and on about how lovely and warm and all of the fun things you can do. Mine was about December. I still remember the first line (and may have the transparency somewhere in my mess); December spreads her snow-filled wings and covers our world in cold despair.

From that paper on, you couldn’t stop me from writing. I found a few poems I had typed on an actual manual typewriter, and became a poet. I had a recurring nightmare, I wrote it down. I dreamed a dream and if I could remember it (which is harder now that I am older) I wrote that too.

In 2003 I started my first full blown manuscript. I still only have four chapters completed, but I swear I will finish it someday. I guess the short attention span has brought me full circle on writing short stories.

So, I guess that’s where I am today. Waiting for the first query letter to come through and make me a published writer. People ask me if I am a writer, and I firmly believe and tell them YES. I write, so that makes me a writer. I may not be published yet, but I will be.

I absolutely love to get email though sometimes with the scattered mind of a writer it takes a few days to get back to you! So please forgive me if I don’t get back to you right way, but I CERTAINLY will get back to you!

Book: Under Contract

Author: Jacquelyn Ayres

Genre: Erotic Romance/Erotic Humor

Charlotte McKendrick is your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. She has three beautiful children, a loving family, special friends, and the most wonderful, adoring husband. Her life is a dream.

Er . . . let’s try this again.

Charlotte McKendrick is not your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. Yes, she’s got three beautiful children, a loving family (all of them lingerers—you’ll see), and her friends are special, all right! As far as her wonderful, adoring husband, what a joke! That bastard abandoned her and the kids six months ago.

Now, she will do anything she can to survive and provide for her children. Even if it means signing on the dotted line . . .

Mitch Colton is the CEO of Colton Technologies. Most of his year is spent traveling around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. He doesn’t have time for a traditional relationship and the BS that comes with it. He doesn’t do the “marriage” thing, the “kid” thing, and he certainly doesn’t do the “falling in love” thing. All that said, he still wants someone to come home to. Someone who will offer everything he wants, and nothing he doesn’t. He realizes loyalty paired with these kinds of demands won’t come cheap. No problem. What he doesn’t realize is that once Charlotte McKendrick signs that dotted line, he’ll be paying with a lot more than money.

I am a Domestic Engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging, yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine) and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work all of this magic in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a Domestic Goddess (not really), I spent over a decade working in the medical field where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have had a love for the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn’t reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures. Finally, I have been putting a pen to paper allowing my characters to come to life. When I don’t have a pen and paper in hand, you can often find me laughing at the conversations my characters are having in my head.

Excerpt #1

With Christmas right around the corner, Ivy reluctantly ventured out to pick up presents for her family and friends.  She would have preferred to stay in her flat to watch re-runs of the Vicar of Dibley.  She had been half-way through the holiday’s specials.

Squeezing between a group gathered outside Harvey Nichols, Ivy made her way into the store and rode the escalator to the second floor.  She tuned out the couple in front of her who were arguing about what to purchase for their son.  She tried to map out her shopping plans in her mind, hoping to save time and get her away from the happy shoppers as quickly as bloody possible.

As she stepped off the escalator, an explosion on the first floor rocked the entire building to its foundation.  The lights overhead flickered several times as ceiling tiles fell and shattered on the ground in front of her.  Ivy ducked her head quickly to avoid the dust and debris in the air.

Gunfire followed the explosion and sent everyone into a mass of swirling panic.  A passing stranger in the fray knocked Ivy to the floor.  Crawling through the swarming chaos to hide behind a nearby perfume counter, she noticed a cabinet large enough for her to squeeze her petite frame inside. She dove in and slid the door shut.

The shouts and screams seemed to continue forever, though her watch told her it had been ten minutes at most.  Ivy turned her phone on silent and sent a quick text to a friend who had been in Alec’s unit.  She didn’t dare place a call, but someone had to let the authorities know there were survivors in the store.

For now.

After several tense moments of waiting, Ivy pulled her phone back out to frantically check the news.  It was impossible to know how long the cabinet would remain safe though moving didn’t seem like that good of an idea either.  Her friend texted a response to say the police were on their way, and she should do her best to avoid detection.

Avoid detection.

Very bloody helpful.

She already knew that much. Alec had been a military man.  They’d known each other long before University.  He proposed during their second year there. Over four happy years of marriage. He had made sure to teach her the basics of self-defence and security awareness.  Not for the first time in two years, Ivy missed him so much her heart ached.

Ivy sat in the cramped cupboard for close to an hour when she realised that she desperately needed the loo.  Bugger. She couldn’t risk it, could she? The restrooms were directly across from where she was hiding.

Another ten minutes passed.

It was time to try to either run for the loo or piss herself. Deciding she didn’t relish sitting in her own urine (not very pleasant), she cautiously eased the door open and waited for any signs of the armed men.  She didn’t know if the silence was comforting or terrifying.

Keeping low to the ground, Ivy crawled along the floor.  It brought back memories of watching her husband when he had been training young recruits.  She could hear his deep voice in her head describing the best and quietest way to low-crawl.  She made it into the loo without being seen.

She finished her business as her mother liked to call it.  The difficult decision now was whether to stay in the toilets or make her way back to the little cubbyhole.  She glanced around the room with an assessing eye.  If the terrorist bastards decided to come inside, there was nowhere to hide effectively from them.

Back to the cupboard.

Definitely.

Retracing her route across the floor seemed somehow more daunting as Ivy started to make her move.  She was halfway to her cupboard when a strong hand grabbed the back of her coat and lifted her off the ground.  His other hand clamped around her mouth to muffle the scream she’d been about to utter.  He dragged her backwards into what appeared to be a staff locker room.

Bugger.

Oh, bloody hell.

The second he had her backed into the staff room, Ivy went from passive captive to violently struggling to escape.  She had no intention of going without some sort of a fight.  His hands pinned her arms to her side and crushed her back against his body.

She closed her eyes and waited for the knife or gunshot she knew was bound to come;  the irony of dying two days before Christmas was not lost on her.  She tried desperately not to fidget.  She realized after a moment that she hadn’t actually felt a weapon at any point. In fact, the hands holding her while firm were also very gentle.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Ivy was surprised at how good the man smelled; he reminded her of dark chocolate and something exotically spicy.  She told her mind and body to behave themselves.   She would not lust over a perfect stranger who was probably about to murder her.

Why the hell hasn’t he done something yet?

If insomnia intended to plague her, Ivy might as well get something useful out of it.  She grabbed her camera bag and tripod.  There was enough moonlight to allow her to easily walk one of the well-trodden paths from the cottage down to one of the nearby lakes.

Setting her tripod up in a clearing, Ivy started to play around with angles and lighting.  The water shimmered perfectly under the moon.  She thought if she did give into Dane’s pressure to have an exhibition, it would be filled with images of Wales.  She made another adjustment and took a few more shots.

Her mum had been right about needing to get out of her flat. Not just out of the flat, she had to take more trips out of London.  Her photography blossomed when it involved less concrete civilisation and more wild nature.  Before Alec had died, she travelled at least one week out of a month.  She hadn’t been anywhere since he passed away.

Ivy somehow didn’t find herself all that surprised when a cranky white wolf ran up to her after thirty minutes or so.  He growled at her and nudged the back of her knee with his nose.  He became more insistent when she ignored him.

“Stop that.” Ivy flicked him on the top of the head. “It’s the middle of Wales, not a war zone.  The greatest danger I have at the moment is being knocked over by you or possibly being run over by a rampaging sheep.”

Gareth snarled at her.  She had a feeling it might be the wolf version of a sarcastic snort.  She raised an eyebrow at him and went back to her camera.  He growled at her again, but she refused to pay any attention to him.

“I’m not arguing with…” Ivy lunged forward to grab her tripod when his tail bumped against it. “Oh, go lick yourself, and stop being so bloody growly.”

“Gareth.”

Ivy glanced over her shoulder to find her other suitor in his two-legged form. “If you’re going to growl at me too, you can bugger off and take your furry friend with you.”

He’s a better fighter

A fighter to the core, Hudson Reyes has collected enough battle scars now to last several lifetimes. But after his combat injuries retire him from the life he wasn’t ready to give up, Hudson finds himself spending the carbon copy days of his new career as a Hollywood fight scene and weapons specialist just doing what he knows best: surviving. Until he meets her. The one woman who makes him want to live again. With wounds as deep as his own, she’s a scrappy little thing–an angel-faced paradox that comes as a package deal with an offbeat town of admirably protective, but downright nosy folks.

And a wicked roundhouse kick that’s become intimately familiar with his head.

…but she has all the weapons.

An antique arms authenticator by day and a self-defense instructor by night, Liana Lin has made a living turning the unthinkable demons of her past into the passions that fuel, and fill, her life. So when the unjustly handsome man she’s been unable to stop thinking about literally takes her to the mat with martial arts styles unlike anything she’s ever seen–pinning her with a molten hot stare that melts her like a marshmallow trapped between a graham cracker and a chocolate square–Lia flips into no-holds-barred fight mode. Because if one man could find a way to disarm her carefully-built defenses, it’d be him.

Now if only they could stop sparring long enough to find out…

“Used to be, I could handle a combat weapon with the kind of speed and precision that guys in my unit were gladly willing to trade their left nut for.” A hard edge darkened his expression for a brief moment before fading, softening when his gaze fell on her face again. “After the explosion, discovering that I wouldn’t ever have that level of fine motor control in my trigger hand again, or that I wouldn’t ever be able to fully process the feel of a weapon because of the nerve damage in my other hand…that just about destroyed me.”

He slid his hand over her skin gently. “But this—ˮ

She gasped, gripped the sheets to keep herself grounded mentally, emotionally. To keep her silly heart from acknowledging the fact that he was shattering her defenses with that one simple touch, owning her with the intense, single-minded focus his eyes held as they followed the path his fingers were tracing across her belly. Hungrily. Reverently.

“I thought that was the hardest thing I’d have to get over because of my injuries. But this right here,” he whispered, leaning down to wreck even more havoc on her senses by shadowing his touch with his words, his evil, evil lips only just barely skimming her flesh. “Not being able to do all the things I want to do to you with the pace and precision I want to with this hand…” She stopped breathing when she felt his other palm smooth up the back of her thigh. “And worse, not being able feel you fully with this one…”

“Hell, Lia. That’s killing me more than you can imagine.”
