Arie Reynolds is a strong willed, independent woman. Her life as a stuntwoman in movies is enough to keep her fulfilled. After nearly losing her life in an accident, she finds that she has a new “ability” – one that allows her to cross into a parallel reality. When she’s once again faced with her mortality, she must decide how she’ll use her ability — will it save her life or will she end up losing the one thing that matters most?
Cole Mercer is a charming firefighter who’s used to getting what he wants out of life, until he fell for Arie. Through the difficulties of her career and a seemingly impossible choice, can Arie make the right choice? Can Cole tame this spitfire’s heart or will he be the one that ends up getting burned?
Graham leaned in and wrapped his arms around Arie. She laid her head on his shoulder and sighed. They stayed in that position for awhile — Graham tried to comfort the sister who thought she’d lost it all, all the while not knowing that some days she was the only one that gave him the strength to go on.

INTERVIEW WITH KATE MATHIAS
1. Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
I did a lot of writing in college, but when I graduated I was first was a 4th grade teacher and then a realtor. I only started writing about 18 months ago as a career.
2. When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?.
I considered myself a writer from the moment I started writing my story. However, I didn’t tell people that I was an author until the day that my first book was published.
3. How long did it take to get your first book published?
It took 5 months from the time I started writing Worlds Apart until the time it was published.
4. Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?
I am a full time mother to three wonderful children along with having my real estate license.
5. What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?
My latest book that I’m currently writing is Broken. It’s a love story about two people that have had traumatic experiences in their lives and have come out broken. Can they both let go of the ghosts that haunt their nightmares and move on together or are they too broken? I guess that’s a little more than 20 words. haha
6. As a self-pulisher, do you have any plans to submit to a publish company?
It is my understanding some authors prefer to stay as a self publish author because of flexibility. I would definitely consider signing with a publishing company. It would just depend on what type of contract they were hoping for. I would still like to have a lot of say in what happens with my books.
7. How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
It usually takes me anywhere from 3-6 months to write depending on if my kids have school breaks. 🙂
8. What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre?Books of a different genre?
I’m currently writing Broken which is a stand alone contemporary romance. I’ll come back to paranormal romance in the future with the next generation of “jumpers” in a trilogy called The Last to Jump.
9. What made you decide to write that genre of book?
I’ve had this idea in my head for three years. I wanted something different than most books out there. I needed to have the paranormal aspect for it to work.
10. Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? (ex. write better at nights, with music, etc)
The first book I wrote at night with piano music. Now I write during the day with no music. 🙂 It changed when all of my kids started going to school during the day. My youngest is in kindergarten now so I have more time during the day to write.
11. Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title? How do come up with the titles?
It depends. With the first and second book, I came up with the titles after I started writing them. I always knew that I wanted the third book to be Spitfire because it depicted the type of person Arie is.
12. Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books?
My books are about hope and second chances. I think that to be happy in life you have to have hope and positivity. I hope that my readers walk away from my series feeling a sense of hope about where my characters’ lives have taken them.
13. Your favorite food is?
I love Italian food and all things chocolate.
14. Your favorite singer/group is?
I don’t really have a favorite singer or group. I like Justin Timberlake and Maroon 5.
15. Your favorite Author is?
I have a lot of authors that have inspired me over the years. I grew up reading Nora Roberts and Nicholas Sparks. Now I read a lot of Indie authors and enjoy having so many to pick from.
16. When you aren’t writing what do you do to relax and have fun?
I love going to movies, reading, and spending time with my family. My three kiddos keep me busy going to all of their sporting events. 🙂
