She clambered over the coiled ropes and buckets jammed on the floor of the small boat before sitting down on the hard wooden seat at the back. Dampness seeped through her dress, and she shifted across to avoid the wet bench as a couple of inches of water swirled around her bare feet. The boat rocked when she moved but Jake didn’t look at her as he picked up the paddles and rowed the short distance into the shore. He pulled the dinghy up onto the muddy shoreline and silently held his hand out to Gracie. She took it and stepped out of the boat, gasping as her feet sank into sticky, black sediment.
“It’s okay, there’s a tap in the garden. My house is just through there beyond the mangroves.” He still avoided her gaze and her neck prickled.
It might not have been far to the house but Gracie picked her way carefully through the stubby mangrove roots and oyster-encrusted rocks exposed by the low tide. Crabs skittered away from her feet and small fish darted through the crystal-clear shallows. By the time they reached the edge of the mangroves her feet were totally covered in black mud. Jake led her along a path through some low trees and she kept her eyes wide open in case there were snakes. Every lesson she had ever given on the dangers of tropical climates was fixed firmly in her mind.
A few moments later they stood beside a locked gate. Gracie looked up and fear clutched at her chest.

What would you do when you all of a sudden haven’t heard from your sister and she is the only family you have? I would do exactly what Gracie James did, she packed up a bag and flew to the last known place that she knew of where her sister was. Gracie James character is the book is described as a simple, naïve, kindergarten teacher. I will give her the kindergarten teacher part but when she is thrown into a turn of events in search of her sister she is definitely not simple nor naïve, even though she still believes she is and may act like it in some instances. I will have to say there were parts I wanted to reach through the book and shake some sense into her. The author has managed to take a small town girl and give her the courage of a lion with this book, which for anyone that is close to their family would do anything for them. But you can’t have a great suspenseful romance story without a gorgeous man added to the story . She meets Jake Alexander by accident when she goes onto his boat while browsing for her sister; but the heat does not stop there. And manages to catch him taking photos of the same boat where she believes her sister is on, supposedly for insurance purposes.
Both of these main characters have had a hard time with trust factors and so it takes a lot for them to work together and figure out what is going on when Gracie sees a picture of her sister on the boat. Why would she stop calling or answering messages? And why is a man (Jake) taking pictures of the boat every night? When she can’t handle all the questions she decides to take matters into her own hands and goes directly to the source, getting a job on the boat. With all the heated moments and questions browsing through her mind she is definitely in for a ride of her life and so are you as a reader.
The author did a phenomenal job with the story line and most of the details but with all the adventure, suspense, danger, twists, turns and unanswered questions that Gracie and Jake are working throughout the book to sort everything out they have their hands full I would say especially with the sexual tension that is continuously building up between them. This book will keep you on your seat and will want to read all the way to the end I know I couldn’t put the book down, especially when I was at the end!!!! If you enjoy suspenseful romance books, give this one a try.
