All Blair Miller has ever wanted was to study fashion in New York City. But as one door closed for her, another door opened. A bright and beautiful door that led her straight to a job at celebrity frequented, high end fashion boutique, ATTRAYANT, where she has now worked for years. When an invitation arrives for a masked ball that is being thrown to celebrate a world famous rock band’s new album, Blair finds herself being transformed into Cinderella for the night. When Blair not only falls for Prince of Rock, Hunter but also loses a precious $8,000.00 shoe, she finds herself in possibly the biggest mess of her entire life. How can she reveal who and what she really is to Prince Charming? How can she afford to replace such an expensive shoe? With the help of her two “Fairy God Fathers” who are pushing for her happily ever after…anything could happen.

The Shoe is a new take on your fairy tale romance of Cinderella, but not for children version! She works for an fashion store; however it is owned by an evil women who just so happens to have 2 daughters that are ugly. Blair sure feels like it when she is invited to a masked ball and guess what she loses her shoe; however, in this case its not a glass slipper but an $8,000 one.  Read The Shoe to find out what poor Blair will go through to find this super expensive shoe. While the Prince Charming (who is actually part of the rock band) will do anything to find his Cinderella, you should read what all he does to find her. When he has to go on a tour with the band they are kept apart but decide to communicate throughout. Will they be able to make it work once he comes back or will their feelings drift away?

I loved this book because it had a new twist to Cinderella, I love fairy tales so this modern day was definitely up my alley. The author has taken this story and caused me to simply love her work, she has brought laughter, fun, and good “modern” romance to the table. It is a quick read, this is the type of book you wish would be longer before I knew it I was at the end.

This was the first book that I have read by the author and I have to say she is definitely creative with all the fairy tales we grew up. I love those tales even better now with the adult twist that she has put in them. This is the story of Little Red Riding Hood, only this time she is nicknamed Red. There are tales down in Louisiana that people believe in of curses, voodoo, and other cultural folklores. Sam Wentworth is running away from her past (I would too if I lived through that and probably would get rid of that problem one way or another) and ends up in the Louisiana woods without gas where she met Ethan. Ethan and his family has had an unfortunate incident happen when he was younger which changed their lives forever. Each of the brothers are different and I would love to see more of them as in each having their own book!!! You cannot help but fall in love with Ethan and the way he is from the beginning an all around sweet loving and caring (he obviously did not get the full problem that his brothers did); and the way that he treats Sam from the beginning of the story is an true loving romance.

The author throughout the book goes back and forth between both main characters as we look into their mind. I wish that the book could have been a little longer but definitely understand and respect the choices of the author. I enjoyed this book and as I said love the characters. Definitely will be reading more books in the future by this author.

The first memory I have of my grandfather is of a moment that we share together.
I’m sitting on his knee looking out over the harbor. Grandpa is smoking a pipe. He points at the horizon. “Look, Walt. Our ships are out there. And one day, another even more beautiful ship will appear at the horizon. A mighty ship to take us all away. And Annabelle will be at the front deck with open arms, inviting us all to join her on board.”
“Why don’t we sail to her ourselves?” I inquire wide-eyed.
“Because she promised she would come,” granddad replies. “And in that promise we trust. It’s only the Unbelievers who think they can do everything themselves. They have no faith in the Goddess.”
Walt lives in Hope Harbor, an island community that has put its trust in salvation from across the sea. The townspeople wait patiently, build their ships to sail out and welcome the Goddess, and piously visit the temple every week. Horror stories to scare their children are told about the Unbelievers on the other side of Tresco.
But not all is what it seems. Walt has questions that no one can answer, and when his best friend and cousin Yorrick is killed in an accident, he digs deeper to find out the truth about the origins of Hope Harbor’s society… and the secrets of the temple.
Return to the world of The Island and discover what Walt’s life was like before and after he met Leia!
